ASEAN OUTSTANDING BUSINESS AWARDS
Good evening to our Guest of Honour Dato Sri Ismail Sabri, Prof Dato Dr Chin See Keat, Friends, Business Associates, Members of ARFF and
distinguish guests.
First of all, let me take this opportunity to congratulate all the award winners in your respective field of business and category. Tonight is a fitting event to honour your achievements over the years in recognition for your valuable contributions to improve not only the economy of your country through your business presence but also the lives of the people of your country through job creations.
It is indeed a wonderful night for all the awardees present including invited guests and friends.
Next, I like to thank Prof. Dato Dr. Chin for his support and guidance in my role as President of ARFF Singapore Chapter. Through his dedicated guidance and help in making the process of ARFF Singapore Chapter seems like a breeze and I would also like to commend on the efforts of the team at ARFF in responding to my many queries.
I am honoured to be part of this prestigious event and being here tonight, to share my thoughts on ASEAN One Identity. This is the way forward for ARFF towards “Making ASEAN A Shopping Paradise”, which is also its slogan to drive the tourism industry.
Looking at ASEAN economy as a whole, its combined scale are large representing about US$2-trillion which approximately equals to about fifth-largest market in the world measured by purchasing power parity. This is indeed large and with ARFF inclusion of (6) six other countries within ASEAN
community, the pie has become larger and a world of opportunities is now presented to us to grow the ASEAN economy in tandem.
ASEAN leaders are in the process of creating an economic community and ARFF is on track in its supporting role to create the similar synergies within the business community with focus on Shopping and Tourism.
I am confident about the role ARFF can play to support the creation and integration of an economic community. Our combined efforts in the business community forging ahead ASEAN as Shopping and Tourism paradise will be in line with ASEAN leaders’ vision of an economic community. There will be
challenges ahead but no challenge is insurmountable as the saying goes, where there’s will, there’s a way. The way forward will be for ARFF to work as ONE Identity.
The road towards integration of ASEAN economy is challenging however there are also plenty of opportunities presented behind these challenges. ARFF Singapore share the similar aims and objectives going forward and at this point in time is exploring avenues to create an “ASEAN ONE Card” programs that will be the future for ASEAN Shopping and Tourism.
The “ASEAN ONE Card”will become the most sought after programs for Shopping and Tourism. The purpose of this card is to create a base for retail-chains business in promoting Shopping and Tourism. Tourists and ASEAN community will be able to access various offers and promotions available through the use of this card.
The ASEAN ONE Card is in its concept phase and we are inviting retail-chains businesses, Shopping Mall operators, Tourist Attractions, Airlines and Accommodation providers including a variety of relevant business owners to participate as stake holders. It is our interest and desire to also include the
various Tourism Boards participation in making this a successful program for ASEAN community.
ARFF Singapore will work towards a simultaneous launch of the ASEAN ONE Card into the third quarter of 2012 to ensure participation from various interested partners are included and welcome all queries on this project.
More information on events and this project will be shared with members in the coming months and we look forward to support from interested
